Balfour
Balfour is the western terminus of the Kootenay Lake Ferry crossing and has a healthy tribe of Canada geese and ducks hanging out near the restaurant and pub. Balfour also has a golf course with restaurant, charter fishing, and kayak expeditions.
Nelson
Nelson, B.C.'s heritage capital, is a half-hour drive from Balfour. It features unique shops, many excellent restaurants, a lively main street, gorgeous heritage buildings and a thriving arts and entertainment community.
Ainsworth
Ainsworth is known far and wide for its soothing hot springs with natural caverns, Ainsworth Hot Springs is a treat in any season of the year. Cody Caves Provincial Park is located on the mountainside above town. A spectacular 15 minute drive north of Balfour.
Kaslo
Kaslo is a half hour's drive north from the Balfour ferry landing, and is an historic village with an amazing natural setting. Home of the S.S. Moyie Museum, the last of the Kootenay Lake paddle-wheelers, Kaslo also features art galleries, fine heritage architecture, and interesting shops.
Creston
Creston is located at the southern end of the Kootenay Lake Valley, just a few miles from the U.S. border, and features bountiful farms, orchards, a museum and the magnificent Creston Valley Wildlife Area.
Yahk
Yahk - Originally a prosperous CP Railroad lumber town operating 18 lumber camps and a tie mill in the early 1900s, Yahk today is a picturesque and friendly community situated where the Yahk River meets the Moyie River, 40 km east of Creston.
