Recreation

The area itself provides innumerable opportunities for outdoor recreation, some organized, some not. We have active soccer leagues for adults & youth, golf clubs, badminton groups, fishing derbies, snowmobile poker runs, curling & indoor volleyball. There are also many classes in yoga, ecstatic dance, dreams and others that explore your inner world. And there is a quilting guild and friendly scrabble.

There are two youth groups, one run by the Community Church in Crawford Bay, another one under the auspices of the Crawford Bay Hall & Parks Board. For contact info, see the list of Local Organizations

For very young children, there are play groups organized by mothers. In the winter, artisans frequently offer classes for children, and throughout the year, there are art classes for adults.'

In summer, there are hikes organized by the Boswell Hiking Club, as well as plenty of beautiful spots to hike to on your own. The beaches are fabulous places to hang out, and there are several marinas along the East Shore. Fishing licenses are sold by local stores, and several also carry bait.

In the winter, the golf courses turn into x-c skiing areas - but please don't ride your ATVs or snowmobiles on them, as they damage the turf. Different businesses and organizations sponsor snowmobile & ATV "poker runs" - a mildly competitive ride taking you all over the backwoods - during the year.

Please take a look at the list of Local Organizations to get an idea of some opportunities!
