The benefits of joining the Kootenay Lake Chamber of Commerce are similar to joining other business organizations; you get the power of numbers when purchasing business services including long distance rates, credit card services, gasoline, payroll and group insurance services. Economies of scale can help to reduce advertising costs and present new promotional opportunities. Joining the Kootenay Lake Chamber of Commerce also makes you a member of the BC Chamber of Commerce, entitling you to discounts they've negotiated on members' behalf.

While the KLCC has a primary focus of encouraging tourism on the East Shore, it is important that ALL businesses are represented. This is particularly important because of the lack of local government in the area – in this vacuum, the Chamber is one of the few effective, transparent, responsible local organizations with the ear of government.
