Creston Valley Wildlife Management Area
A 17,000-hectare wetland, home to over 280 species of birds, 57 species of mammals and 29 species of fish, reptiles and amphibians. Established in 1968, the Creston Valley Wildlife Management Area (CVWMA) is the first and largest management area in the province of BC, the habitat forming a valuable link in a chain of wetlands stretching from the Arctic Ocean to California, and is designated a wetland of international significance (Ramsar site), and federally recognized as an Important Bird Area (IBA) and Important Amphibian and Reptile Area (IMPARA). Easy, 24/7 access to over 32 kilometers of dyke trails allows you a chance to view wildlife. Hiking, biking, bird watching, wildlife viewing, photography, canoeing, kayaking and fishing are just some of the ways to enjoy the area. Climb the viewing tower along the boardwalk trail for breathtaking view of the valley. In the colder months, cross country skiing, skating and ice fishing will keep you busy. Brown worked in the funeral business for 35 years and when he retired he decided that there should be a use for the empty embalming fluid bottles which were discarded. After acquiring 500 000 square shaped bottles, weighing 250 tons in all, the Glass House was finally built. This impressive house contains 1,200 feet of floor space with 2 floor levels.
